The Course

EASE® is currently believed to be the most popular commercially available acoustical simulator, which is widely used in many parts of the world.

This online course addresses comprehensively the acoustical simulation platform and elaborates on the theory behind the tool, the details, the tips and tricks. The course is the result of more than ten years of building and teaching EASE® classes as an instructor for AFMG® Technologies GmbH in Germany as well as in many other countries. It comprises his experience with students coming from different knowledge levels, backgrounds and interests.

The course material, which includes videos, slides and other documents, shall be available for enrolled students upon enrolment. The material shall be available for online access for twelve months after enrolment.


Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the students will

1. possess the needed theoretical background in acoustics and loudspeakers for using EASE® efficiently,
2. understand the modular architecture of EASE® and the functions of the different program modules,
3. learn the properties of the different items in an EASE® model,

4. be trained in the principal modelling methods in EASE® and many other tips and tricks,
5. know the tools for exchanging EASE® models with other software programs,
6. establish an understanding of the program database, particularly materials and sources,

7. investigate/compare the calculation methods, their limits and degrees of accuracy, and
8. evaluate and interpret the simulation results in order to conclude design decisions.


For Whom Is the Course?

This course is intended for those, who are involved in the planning and verification of room acoustics, sound reinforcement, public address and voice alarm systems.

It is not a prerequisite that the students come to the course with a professional acoustical background, which would be helpful of course, but it is assumed that the students have a reasonable level of engineering general knowledge and understand the basic definitions and terminology.

Each course student shall have access to direct and personal e-mail support for the course curriculum.

The student can send his/her questions to the instructor, and shall receive an answer from the instructor within 48 hours at latest.


Testing and Certification

The students shall be exposed after each lecture to a number of quizzes to test their knowledge and level of achievement in the course.

At the end of the course, there is a final set of quizzes to test the students' knowledge of the entire course and how well they met its objectives. Additionally, one test project shall be worked out by the student to ensure he/she is capable of applying the knowledge to a practical case.

A certificate of Certified EASE® User shall be issued to the students, whose overall score based on all quizzes in the course and the test project is 75% or better.


What is Certified EASE® User?

This course is a “Certified Training by AFMG®”. This goes back to a long history of successful partnership and mutual trust between the trainer and AFMG Technologies GmbH. The student´s certification for this course is based on an assessment scheme, which consists of numerous quizzes after the course lectures plus a final test project. If a student finishes them successfully, the “Certified EASE® User” certificate will be issued by www.sistrum.eu.

Emad El-Saghir
Emad El-Saghir

Emad El-Saghir earned his Bachelor's degree in electronics and communications engineering in 1992 from Ain-Shams University in Cairo. After working in the Middle East for several years, he left for Germany and earned his Master's degree in Acoustics from Dresden University of Technology in 2003.

Emad possesses an experience of more than 20 years in the industries of room-, electro-acoustics and sound reinforcement systems. He has been participating over these years in numerous projects in the Middle East, Europe and North America including, among others, performing arts venues, landmark worship houses, stadia, universities, airports and museums.

Between 2012 and 2018, Emad was a Senior Consultant with Berlin acoustical consulting office ADA. Earlier between 2003 and 2009, he headed ADA presence in the Middle East.

In 2018, Emad joined the German loudspeaker manufacturer HOLOPLOT as Head of Applications. Since 2021, he is a Fellow of the Berlin-based manufacturer.
